KYP Connect offline data collection explained

πŸ“΄ Working Offline with the KYP Connect App

The KYP Connect App is designed to capture work activity even when offline β€” whether you're:

  • Not connected to the internet

  • Not using a VPN

  • Experiencing temporary server maintenance

This ensures work data can still be collected, but there are a few important limitations to keep in mind.

πŸ”— 1. Initial Connection Is Required

Before the app can collect any data β€” online or offline β€” it must connect to the server at least once.

  • This connection is needed to download the configuration that tells KYP what to monitor.

  • We recommend staying connected for at least 5 minutes during the first launch or after reinstalling the app.

πŸ’Ύ 2. Offline Data Storage Is Limited

KYP can store up to 60,000 functions in its offline database.

  • This limit varies by user and activity level:

    • For some, it may cover 2 days of work.

    • For others, it could extend up to 2 weeks.

  • Once this limit is reached:

    • Older data starts getting deleted automatically.

    • Some of the oldest offline data may not be recovered or sent once you're back online.

πŸ”„ Recommendation: Ensure VPN or server connectivity at least every 2 days to prevent data loss.

βš™οΈ 3. No Configuration Updates While Offline

While working offline, the KYP Connect App cannot download updates to your application definitions or monitoring rules.

  • If a new app is marked as productive while you're offline, KYP won’t start tracking it until you reconnect and the updated configuration is downloaded.
